Job Summary

The Patient Care Technician I, under the supervision of professional nursing staff, provides direct patient care including taking vital signs, assisting with activities of daily living, performing blood draws, and collecting specimen samples. This role involves monitoring and documenting patient status, collaborating with the healthcare team to implement care plans, and ensuring patient safety and comfort. Responsibilities also include wound care, urinary catheter management, blood glucose monitoring, and responding to patient alarms. The position requires adherence to safety protocols, participation in patient rounding, and maintaining a safe and orderly clinical environment. Candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent, Maryland CNA or GNA certification, and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Previous patient care experience is preferred. The role demands effective communication, teamwork, organizational skills, and the ability to perform delegated nursing tasks with sensitivity to diverse patient needs. Physical demands include frequent walking and standing, occasional lifting, and working in a standard office environment with potential exposure to bodily fluids and infectious diseases.
