Schedule: Wednesday through Sunday 3:00PM-11:30PM
General Summary Under frequent supervision, transports patients, supplies and equipment to and from all departments within the medical center. Expedites Emergency Department room turnover and patient placement. Patients served include infant to adult geriatric. Reporting Relationships Reports to the Supervisor Transport Services
Patient Transports - Identifies patient verbally and/or by wristband.
- Signs patient in/out on floor log sheet and lets staff know patient is leaving or returning to unit.
- Transports patient to correct department.
- Provides assistance to the Transport RN as needed.
- Knows how to handle oneself in an emergency situation.
- Transports patients to morgue with respect.
- Uses safety measures/standards when transporting a patient with oxygen.
Transport Equipment
- Ensures equipment is returned to proper storage area.
- Identifies, removes from service, tags, and reports any malfunctions with equipment.
Supply Delivery and Pick-up
- Specimens are picked up in the proper container, following the standards and policies of the hospitable. Runs are completed in the time frame allotted.
- Blood Bank products are delivered to the appropriate person, obtaining initials upon delivery.
- Central Sterile supplies are delivered and returned to the correct unit. Dirty supplies are returned to central using infection control standards.
- All other non-patient supplies and paperwork delivered in the appropriate manor.
Work Experience
Qualifications High School diploma or equivalent required. Must be able to read and write English. Current CPR certification required or obtained prior to providing direct patient care.
